August 2004 New Zealand Storm
A storm affected much of New Zealand with combinations of high winds, heavy rain, flooding, heavy seas and snow. Cold southerlies affected much of the South Island. A tornado caused havoc in Taranaki, killing two people and injuring two others. Two men were drowned off Northland when their boat sank in rough weather, and a woman was drowned in a Wairarapa stream. A West Coast man was struck by lightning and four people were injured by an avalanche in Otago.
July 2004 Bay of Plenty Flooding and Landslides
Heavy rain resulted in extensive flooding and slips in the Whakatane and Opotiki Districts. Lifelines were affected, and millions of dollars of damage was done to properties and farmland. Two people were killed, one in a landslide at Ohiwa and the other was killed when a tree fell on a car.
February 2004 North Island High Winds
High winds were experienced in Auckland, Waikato, Manawatu-Wanganui and Wellington, causing damage and power cuts and closing railway lines. A small tornado also occurrred in Auckland.
February 2004 North Island Storm
A storm brought high winds, heavy rain, flooding and slips to much fo the North Island as well as the upper South Island. The lower North Island was severely affected, with 100-year floods in Manawatu-Wanganui and 50-year floods in Wellington causing millions of dollars of damage. Thousands of people were evacuated. Two people drowned in the sea at Wellington and one person was presumed drowned in the Marlborough Sounds. Trees felled on houses caused injuries to a girl in Wellington and a woman in Auckland. A person was also injured after felled power lines started a house fire.

A tornado hit Greymouth damaging at least 20 businesses and causing $300,000 worth of damage.

Cobden, near Greymouth, was hit by a tornado which caused damage to 20 houses. In Canterbury, high winds caused road accidents and power cuts.

A hail storm in Wairarapa caused extensive damage to apple and pear crops. Otago was hit by a hail storm but with only minor damage.
August 2000 North Island Thunderstorms
Thunderstorms brought lightning and heavy rain to parts of the North Island, and a tornado struck Huntly in the Waikato. The tornado caused damage to buildings, trees and powerlines. Lightning damaged about 20 homes in Auckland.

Thunderstorms brought lightning and extreme rainfall to some places in Northland and Auckland. A tornado damaged properties in Pukenui, Northland. Two separate traffic accidents saw two people killed and 13 injured.

Tornadoes and high winds struck places in Northland, Auckland and the Waikato, causing property damage. Nine people were injured in Auckland and a number of people were injured in Northland.
August 1990 Tasman-Nelson Flooding and the Taranaki Tornado
Severe damage to homes and businesses occurred when a tornado hit Bell Block and Inglewood on the 12th of August 1990. Tasman-Nelson experienced heavy rain causing extensive flooding in the Motueka area and resulting in millions of dollars worth of damage. Marlborough also experienced some flooding.
