January-February 2004 New Zealand Flooding
Heavy rain was experienced in Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Taranaki, Wanganui, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson and the West Coast, bringing flooding to some areas. In Taranaki, a man drowned in the flooded Waiwhakaiho River. A man also drowned in Nelson when his car plunged into a swollen river. Homes were flooded in Wanaka.

A cold front brought snow to the Central North Island and eastern South Island, blocking roads and cutting power to some places. A person was injured in Wellington Harbour after a ferry crashed into another boat in high winds.

A State of Emergency was declared in two parts of the Waikato and much damage was done to public and private property. A woman drowned in the Coromandel and three people were injured in separate incidents.

April 2001 North Island Ex-tropical Cyclone Sose
Ex-tropical Cyclone Sose brought high winds, heavy rain, high seas and flooding to many parts of the North Island. Three people were killed in a weather-related car accident in the Waikato and one man was drowned in a river in the Bay of Plenty. A number of injuries also occurred.

Extreme rain fall brought extensive flooding to parts of Northland and the Bay of Plenty. People were evacuated in Northland and a CDE was declared for the Rotorua District. There was also some flooding and electrical storms in Auckland, where one person was injured when a lightning strike blew a phone out of his hand.
April 1999 New Zealand Snow and Marine Inundation
A combination of gale force south-westerlies, high rainfall, low air pressure and high tides produced sea flooding on the upper North Island's west coast. Snow, high winds and thunderstorms were also experienced in parts of the North Island and southern South Island. A boy was drowned near Dargaville and a woman was killed in a car accident on a snow-covered road near Wairouru.
January 1999 Northland and Auckland Flooding
Extreme rainfall brought severe floods to the Far North and Pukekohe. People were evacuated, properties were damaged and a CDE was declared for the Far North. A child died after being sucked down a stormwater drain in Northland and a man was drowned in Pukekohe.

High winds and heavy rain struck parts of Northland, Auckland and the Waikato, causing damage to property and crops. A woman was presumed drowned in heavy seas off Northland.
