Affected LifelineMost main roads on the Central Plateau were closed for at least part of the weekend. Numerous motorists were stranded. The Rangipo-Waiouru section of the Desert Road was still closed on the 8th.

Affected LifelineState Highway 2 was closed from Opotiki to Gisborne, through Waioeka Gorge. The road reopened on the 6th.

Affected LifelineState Highway 5 from Napier to Taupo, State Highway 2 from Napier to Palmerston North and the road from Napier to Taihape were closed by snow. The Napier-Taihape road was still closed on the 8th.

Affected LifelinePower was cut to more than 10,000 homes in the central and eastern North Island at the height of the storm. Engineers were still struggling to restore electricity to remote areas late on the 6th. All power was expected to be restored on the 8th.
