June 1997 Northland and Hawke's Bay Flooding
Heavy rain, flooding, heavy seas and high winds affected parts of the upper North Island, with extensive flooding in Northland and Hawke's Bay. A CDE was delcared in Northern Hawke's Bay and evacuations took place. Homes were also evacuated in the Far North. Snow fell in the Central North Island.
March 1997 North Island Ex-tropical Cyclone Gavin
Ex-tropical Cyclone Gavin brought high winds, high seas, heavy rain and flooding to parts of Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Gisborne. Three homes were evacuated in Gisborne due to wind damage and a family was evacuated in Northland.
December 1996 Upper North Island Ex-tropical Cyclone Fergus
The remains of Cyclone Fergus brought heavy rain, flooding, landslips, high winds and high seas to the North Island from Northland to Gisborne, mainly affecting Northland and Coromandel. The storm caused significant damage and a CDE was declared for parts of the Waikato. A man was drowned in Northland and one person died in Thames.
March 1995 Northland Flooding
Extreme rainfall brought flooding to parts of Northland, particularly in the Whangarei and North Hokianga areas.
July 1992 North Island Flooding and High Winds
High winds and flooding were experienced in the upper and lower North Island. A man drowned when a yacht capsized off Castlepoint during the storm.
January 1989 Northland Cyclone Delilah
Flooding resulting in damage equal to that wrought by Cyclone Bola inflicted on part of Northland. The cost of flood damage was over $5 million.
December 1988 Upper North Island Flooding
Heavy rain brought flooding to parts of Northland, Auckland, Waikato and the Bay of Plenty. Homes were evacuated in Auckland, and seven people were injured in a weather-related car accident.
March 1988 North Island Ex-tropical Cyclone Bola
Ex-tropical Cyclone Bola struck most regions of the North Island, in particular Taranaki, Hawke's Bay, Gisborne and Northland, bringing widespread damage with combinations of heavy rain, flooding, high winds and heavy seas. Two people were drowned in Northland, three in Gisborne and two in Hawke's Bay. Three people were injured by high winds in Taranaki. The tail end of the cyclone later struck Tasman-Nelson.

Extreme rainfall caused heavy flooding in the Kerikeri area. Houses were damaged and one person was killed.
June-July 1979 Upper North Island Flooding
Heavy rain brought flooding and slips to Northland and Auckland. A boy was killed in Northland when his car plunged into a flooded river, and an Auckland woman was injured by a piece of floating debris. A 42 year old man drowned after his boat capsized in heavy seas near Whangarei.

A storm brought high winds, flooding and high seas to Northland, Auckland, Waikato and Manawatu-Wanganui. A man was drowned in the sea in Northland. High winds and seas caused significant property damage in the eastern Waikato.

April 1968 New Zealand Ex-tropical Cyclone Giselle
Ex-tropical Cyclone Giselle affected every region in New Zealand, with high winds, heavy rain, flooding, landslips and high seas. The interislander 'Wahine' sunk in Wellington Harbour during the storm, with the loss of 51 lives. Other casualties: one in Northland, two in Wellington due to high winds: a man who went missing on Stewart Island. Weather-related injuries were reported in Waikato, Manawatu-Wanganui and Wellington.
February 1967 North Island Ex-tropical Cyclone Dinah
Ex-tropical Cyclone Dinah brought heavy rain, flooding and high winds to most regions of the North Island. There was also a hail storm in the Nelson area. A man was missing and presumed drowned in Rotorua.
February 1966 Northland and Auckland Flooding
High rainfalls and flooding were experienced throughout Northland and northern Auckland.
February 1965 North Island Storm
A tropical cyclone moved over the North Island on the 11th causing heavy rain and high winds. Further rain on the 13th caused severe flooding in the Bay of Plenty and other regions. There was one casualty in Manawatu-Wanganui due to high winds.
