Thunderstorms, waterspouts and a severe hailstorm hit parts of the Bay of Plenty, causing disruption and damage. Thunderstorms were also experienced in other parts of the North Island and snow fell on the higher ranges in the Central North Island and Taranaki. Snow fell to low levels in Canterbury, Otago and Southland, and flooding blocked some roads. In Otago, seven people were injured in weather-related incidents.

Heavy rain, flooding, high seas and slips were experienced in various parts of New Zealand. The weather contributed to a number of traffic accidents, one in which two people were killed and one injured in the Manawatu. Two people received minor injureies after a yacht capsized in Northland.

Ex-tropical Cyclone Ivy brought high rainfall, flooding and high winds to much of the North Island. Flooding in Waikato rivers caused evacuations and extensive damage to roads and property. In Auckland, high winds caused power cuts and sank boats.
February 2004 North Island Storm
A storm brought high winds, heavy rain, flooding and slips to much fo the North Island as well as the upper South Island. The lower North Island was severely affected, with 100-year floods in Manawatu-Wanganui and 50-year floods in Wellington causing millions of dollars of damage. Thousands of people were evacuated. Two people drowned in the sea at Wellington and one person was presumed drowned in the Marlborough Sounds. Trees felled on houses caused injuries to a girl in Wellington and a woman in Auckland. A person was also injured after felled power lines started a house fire.
June 2002 Upper North Island Weather Bomb
A weather bomb brought heavy rain, flooding and high winds and high seas to much of the upper North Island. A State of Emergency was declared in two parts of the Waikato and much damage was done to public and private property. A woman drowned in the Coromandel and three people were injured in separate incidents.
January 2002 North Island and Upper South Island Thunderstorms
Thunderstorms brought lightning, heavy rain and flooding to many parts of the North Island and upper South Island. Wellington and Hawke's Bay were the worst affected regions, with extreme rainfalls causing flooding of properties and streets. A person in Auckland was treated for an eye injury caused by a sewage overflow.

Many parts of New Zealand experienced heavy rain, flooding and high winds. Property was damaged and roads were closed. Two fishermen were drowned in Auckland, and two men were washed into the flooded Whanganui River, one being injured and one missing. A person was also injured in a traffic accident in Wellington.

Heavy rain, flooding and landslips were experienced in parts of Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Hawke's Bay. Extreme rainfall in Tauranga caused flooding of homes and businesses. The Coromandel and Wairoa, in Hawke's Bay, were also badly affected.
April 1999 New Zealand Snow and Marine Inundation
A combination of gale force south-westerlies, high rainfall, low air pressure and high tides produced sea flooding on the upper North Island's west coast. Snow, high winds and thunderstorms were also experienced in parts of the North Island and southern South Island. A boy was drowned near Dargaville and a woman was killed in a car accident on a snow-covered road near Wairouru.
January 1999 Northland and Auckland Flooding
Extreme rainfall brought severe floods to the Far North and Pukekohe. People were evacuated, properties were damaged and a CDE was declared for the Far North. A child died after being sucked down a stormwater drain in Northland and a man was drowned in Pukekohe.
