Cumulonimbus clouds and associated tornadoes occurred at New Lynn, Mt Albert, Mt Roskill, Onehunga and Penrose on the 8th.
Extensive damage was done to 30 houses and three factories.
Power was cut to 2500 homes and 100 factories.
