InjuriesA man working at Spicer Landfill was injured at about 9am when he picked up a stray piece of roofing iron and a wind gust caught the iron, lifting him off his feet and dumping him about four metres away. The back of his head was gashed and needed five stitches.

ImpactGale force winds and driving rain forced organizers of the Queen Charlotte Multisport race in the Marlborough Sounds to alter the kayak course to Picton to a course inside Waikawa Bay due to heavy seas off the Snout. Many kayakers were still tossed out into the sea and the kayak section was eventually called off.
