A tornado struck Remuera, damaging properties, including a hospital, and injuring nine people.

A tornado struck Remuera at 7:30am on the 25th.
The tornado almost completely wrecked Caughey-Preston Geriatric Hospital. It was reported to have struck the hospital at 7:35am.
The cost of rebuilding the hospital was about $200,000 ($3,090,000 2008 dollars).
According to eye witnesses, the diameter of the tornado core was about 130 yards (119 m).
A damage path of over 1.5 miles (2.4 km) was clearly visible.
About 12 houses had their roofs damaged or destroyed.
Nine women were admitted to Green Lane Hospital with injuries.
