A male Polish tourist died during a tramping trip. He was found wedged in Turere Stream in Rimutaka Forest Park one week later.
He was apparently the victim of a flash flood as there was a significant spike in rainfall in the area on the 31st of March.

Coastal Marlborough recorded 25-30 mm (2.5-3.0 cm) of rain overnight of the 31st.
Moderately heavy rain fell in coastal regions of Marlborough overnight of the 31st.
Flooding
There was a bit of run-off in smaller streams around Blenheim and little hollows filled up.
Heavy Rain
Waikawa recorded 55 mm (5.5 cm) of rain overnight of the 31st.
Waikawa received the most rain.
