A thunderstorm brought heavy rain, hail and tornadoes to Auckland. Property was damaged and two people were injured in a weather-related car crash.

An active trough containing a number of low pressure centres crossed northern New Zealand, bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail.
An intense two-hour thunderstorm hit Auckland at around 11:00am on the 25th. Heavy rain and hail fell.
Tornado
Three tornadoes occurred in south-eastern parts of Auckland.
Property and trees were damaged.
A horticulture business was badly hit, sustaining thousands of dollars worth of damage.
From the damage, the tornado looked to be an F0.
Flooding
The Fire Service attended more than 100 flood-related incidents, including flooded basements and homes and trees down across roofs and driveways.
Three people had to be rescued after becoming trapped in cars.

One of the tornadoes cut a path towards Ardmore Aerodrome.
The tornado was estimated to be 500 m high and 100 m in diameter.

Heavy rain and hail caused flooding in the central Auckland suburbs of Epsom, Greenlane and Remuera.

A house was damaged by tornadoes in the suburb of Flat Bush. Windows were broken.
