Heavy rain caused flooding in the Napier area. Approaches were damaged on many bridges and several roads were impassable because of floodwaters.

There was a considerable quantity of water lying around.

The road through to Rissington was blocked due to a slip.

In the bay at Napier a heavy sea was running and all shipping was held up owing to the rain.

Tutaekuri River rose 8 ft 8 in (2.64 m) at Redcliffe.

Tukituki River was 9 ft 10 in (3.0 m) at Grange Bridge.

Twyford
Ngaruroro River broke its banks at Raupare and flooded the surrounding land. The floodwaters finally joined up with river again at Pakowhai Bridge.

Waipawa River in high flood and reached the roadway at the end of High Street in the Waipawa township.

Most low-lying betwwen Brookfield and Waitangi was under water.
Ngaruroro River was overflowing near the mouth onto farmland.
