There was heavy rain in the Hawkes Bay back country on the 25th of August 1977.
Flooding
There were slips and washouts and several back country roads were closed.
Tutaekuri River flooded the road from Puketapu to Dartmoor.
There were 12,000 lambs lost in August.
Landslide
There were heavy slips on Waimarama and Maraetotara Roads.
Ten goods trains were cancelled due to slips on the Napier-Gisborne line.
