June 2021 Auckland Tornado: A front moved across the north of the North Island during June 19, with thunderstorms and heavy downpours of rain. One of these storms spawned a tornado in South Auckland which left a trail of destruction in Papatoetoe.

December 2012 Auckland Tornado: Around midday on Thursday 6 December an active trough line passed slowly through Auckland. A thunderstorm in this line produced a tornado that touched down near Hobsonville and Whenuapai. After passing northwest Auckland, the line of showers continued on a southeast path that took it across northern Waikato, Bay of Plenty and across Mahia Peninsula

May 2011 Auckland Tornado: The tornado formed from a very active and well defined band of thunderstorm activity on the afternoon of the 3rd May 2011. The destructive tornado swept across Auckland's North Shore, leaving a trail of destruction from Albany to Glenfield.

March 2005 West Coast Tornado: A tornado hit Greymouth leaving six people injured and $9,200,000 worth of damage.

August 2004 New Zealand Storm: A storm affected much of New Zealand with combinations of high winds, heavy rain, flooding, heavy seas and snow. Cold southerlies affected much of the South Island. A tornado caused havoc in Taranaki, killing two people and injuring two others. Two men were drowned off Northland when their boat sank in rough weather, and a woman was drowned in a Wairarapa stream. A West Coast man was struck by lightning and four people were injured by an avalanche in Otago.

August 1980 Auckland Tornado: A tornado struck Onehunga. A woman was killed under a falling tree.

April 1953 Auckland Tornado: A tornado struck the Remuera area, causing damage. A man who was in a bus shelter was killed when it collapsed.

August 1948 Waikato Tornado: Three people were killed when a devastating tornado struck Frankton and travelled south-east through Hamilton.
