March 2012 North Island Weather Bomb ( 2012-03-03 )

High winds over one day caused damage and disruption in many North Island places. The worst affected areas were South Taranaki and lower North Island.

Insurance ClaimOne major rural insurance company alone has received claims for more than $5 million in damages. Claims have been lodged by dairy farmers unable to milk because of power outages and land owners who had lost wool sheds and roofs on other farm properties.
